Coach James Page is entering his sixth season as Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Cabrillo College, taking over the program in 2020 after eight years as an assistant. Since then, he has led the Seahawks to consistent success, highlighted by multiple playoff appearances and one of the most historic runs in program history.
In his first full season (2021–22), Page guided Cabrillo to an 18–12 record and a playoff win, with several players earning All-Conference honors and six advancing to four-year programs. The following year, despite a roster overhaul, the Seahawks remained competitive and continued to produce all-conference and scholarship athletes.
The 2023–24 season marked a breakthrough, as Cabrillo opened 12–0, won the Saltwater Classic, reached a No. 3 state ranking, and set a school record with 25 wins. The Seahawks advanced to the State Final Eight for the first time in program history while leading Northern California in scoring.
Page continued the program’s momentum in 2024–25, returning to the playoffs with a young roster, and followed that with a 20-win season despite significant injuries, advancing to the second round of the state tournament and capturing another Saltwater Classic title.
Across his tenure, Page has consistently developed student-athletes, with numerous players earning all-conference recognition and moving on to four-year programs.
Prior to becoming head coach, Page was part of a highly successful Cabrillo staff that won six conference titles and sent nearly 30 players to four-year schools. He also spent eight seasons coaching at UC Santa Cruz, his alma mater, where he helped guide the program to a then school-record 15 wins.
A former collegiate player at UC Santa Cruz and the University of Redlands, Page holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from UC Santa Cruz and a master’s degree from Ohio University. He lives in Aptos with his wife, China.
